This document provides instructions and a checklist for completing and filing Form 1024, Application for IRS Tax-Exempt Status, for organizations affiliated with the Armed Forces of the United States. The form must be completed in full and all required attachments submitted to ensure timely processing.

A 'Professional Society & Association' refers to an organization that brings together individuals or entities engaged in a common profession, trade, business, or industry for professional development, networking, advocacy, or other purposes. A 'Research Institute & Public Policy Analysis', on the other hand, is an organization primarily focused on conducting research and analyzing public policy issues, often with a specific focus area such as health care, education, environment, etc.
