Starting June 1, 2000, vehicle and driver’s license records of the Kansas Department of Revenue - Division of Vehicles are closed to public use. Only parties meeting eligibility requirements under the Federal Driver Privacy Protection Act have access to these records. Eligible parties include courts and law enforcement. Vehicle owners or license holders can release their vehicle records to authorized individuals by completing a TR/DL 301 form. To make records open to public use, one must check the appropriate box on the form and provide required information. A separate request is needed for each vehicle and driver’s license or ID card.
