To renew a Commercial Driver License (CDL) in Oregon, you need to meet certain requirements. If you are applying for a non-excepted interstate CDL, you must have on file with DMV or submit a valid and approved medical certificate and have a valid medical waiver or exemption if the medical certificate indicates such document is required. You must also have completed the required sections of the form and submitted it along with the driver license application. If you are unable to meet the medical certification requirements, you can downgrade your license by completing Section D on the front of the form. Additionally, if you are applying for a CDL with a hazardous materials endorsement, you must have a notation recorded on your OR DMV record of having passed a background check by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) within the previous 5 years and have a passing hazardous materials endorsement knowledge test score on file. If you are unable to meet the background check or knowledge test requirements, you also have the option to remove the hazmat endorsement from your CDL by completing Section D on the front of the form. For all other types of CDL renewals, you do not need to submit any additional documents unless DMV requests them.
