Vermont issues three types of licenses: Enhanced Driver's License or ID (EDL) which is Real ID compliant, Driver's License or ID (LIC), and Non-Real ID CompliantDriver's License or ID (DPC). EDL is a border crossing document for US citizens returning from Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, or Bermuda. It requires presenting a Social Security card or its equivalent, identity documents with name and current Vermont residential address, and proof of US citizenship or lawful status. LIC is available to any Vermont resident regardless of their citizenship or lawful status. It doesn't require presentation of SSN, proof of identity and date of birth, nor proof of Vermont residency. DPC is also available to any Vermont resident but doesn't meet Real ID standards. It doesn't require any specific document apart from Vermont residency.
