To apply for a Motorcycle Learner's Permit as new, renewed, or replacement.
To obtain a Vermont Motorcycle Learner Permit, applicants must be at least 16 years old, hold a valid Vermont Driver's License, and pass a written exam. The permit is valid for 120 days and can only be renewed twice if the skills test or motorcycle rider training course has not been completed. Motorcycles include three-wheel vehicles with a seat or saddle for the rider and designed to travel on not more than three wheels in contact with the ground, but exclude golf carts, track driven vehicles, tractors, electric personal assistive mobility devices, motor-driven cycles (mopeds), and autocycles. Operators of 3-wheeled motorcycles are required to take the motorcycle learner's permit examination and the motorcycle skills test before receiving a motorcycle endorsement. Motor-driven cycles do not require a motorcycle endorsement.
