This document provides instructions for completing Supplement 1 of Form I-600A or I-600, which is used to provide information about adult members of the household for an adoption case. The form must be completed for every adult member of the household who is not the applicant/petitioner or spouse (if married), and any individual whose presence is deemed relevant by USCIS. Failure to provide this information may delay a decision or result in denial of the underlying adoption-related application and/or petition.
U.S. citizens, either individually or jointly with their spouse, may file Form I-600A to determine their eligibility and suitability to adopt an orphan.
Form I-600A is valid for 18 months from the date of approval.
If Form I-600A is denied, the prospective adoptive parents cannot file a Form I-600 for an orphan until they have corrected any issues identified in their denial notice.
