Abandoned Property Affidavit

This document outlines the process for a lienholder in possession of abandoned property to apply for an original title, salvage certificate of title, or junking certificate based on the condition of the property. The affidavit included in the application must be signed and notarized by the person who towed the property and includes the year, make, model, identification number, owner, lienholder, street address, city, state, and zip code of the abandoned property. If notice to the owner and lienholder has been unsuccessful, a physical search for evidence of ownership is required. The document also provides instructions for titling abandoned motor vehicles, trailers, all-terrain vehicles, outboard motors, and vessels towed from public or private property with and without authorization from law enforcement or governmental agencies.
