Application for Certificate of Authorization as a Salvor

Application for authorization as a salvor can be made in conjunction with registration as a Miscellaneous Motor Vehicle Business (MMVB) in the vehicle salvage class or repair or towing business. The application must include the name and identification number of the business, the name and address of the business, a type of business, the principal place of business, and a list of all owners, partners, or corporate officers of the business with their full names, titles, PA driver's license numbers, dates of birth, street addresses, cities, states, zip codes, and phone numbers. The applicant must also read and understood Chapter 253 (Salvors) and own or rent adequate storage facilities (minimum 5,000 square feet) for storing abandoned vehicles that meet all local land use and zoning requirements. The applicant must also own or rent suitable equipment for towing abandoned vehicles. If the business is discontinued, the salvor registration must be returned to the department within 5 days. If the business is moved to another location, the department must be notified within 10 days of the change.
